About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog! My name is Michele and I am a stay at home wife. I'm married to a wonderful guy and we will be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary this year. I have two great boys, Cody & Steven, they are both moved into their own places. I also have two German Shepherds, Firecracker and Bear. I'm using this year to work on getting fit and healthy and also to work on my crafty side. I've always been heavy and I would love to get into shape and lose some weight. I'm new to the crafty side of me!! I've been working on sewing/quilting and crocheting and have just joined the craft of the month club so I can try some new stuff. I will be sharing it all with you!

1st Craft of the Month---Finished

I finally took some time to do one of my Crafts of the Month.....lol  The first I received was a birdhouse wind-chime.  I had a blast doing it, and I'm gonna look in the craft stores to see if I can find the stuff to make some more!!  The site where I subscribed for the monthly crafts is:  http://www.creativewomanclub.com/

This is what the kit looked like.

Painted a wooden tray

Monday I was just a little bored so I ran to the craft store to find something to do.  I ended up getting a little wooden tray, paint and some scrapbooking paper.  I'm not completely happy with the finished project, so I will be getting another one and trying again.

Paper Mache Boxes

So my niece has been here for a couple of days to visit on her spring break and we decided that we needed a little project to do.  We ran to Hobby-Lobby and bought ourselves a couple of paper mache boxes, paint, scrapbooking paper, modge podge, and a couple of wood pieces already painted.  We had a blast doing this and I think that I will be back to Hobby Lobby before the end of the week as the paper mache boxes are half off and so are the scrapbook papers.  This project hooked me, and I'm already thinking along the lines of doing these in a Christmas theme.
Our supplies.
About 1/2 way through the project.
 My niece, Natasha's, finished project.

 My finished project.

Learning to Quilt

As I'm teaching myself to sew, I'm also teaching myself to quilt!!  I can't wait until I can make quilts for the beds and for family and friends!!
Below are pictures of the two books that I am using to teach myself.

Learning to Sew

I'm teaching myself how to sew again....lol  The last time that I sewed anything was over 20 years ago in High School.  I bought some materials aimed at kids to reteach myself.  Below is the materials and the two projects that I have done already.  I'm now working on a project that actually uses a pattern....lol
These are the materials that I used for my first two projects, they can be found here.

1st project was a couple of receiving blankets.

The 2nd project was a couple of pillow cases.  I'm now working with a pattern to make a night gown with a matching pillow case.
